14 March, 2018. – Advocates from Samoa and American Samoa will be focusing on increased community engagement on domestic violence during the ‘Talking Across Our Differences’ Conference, set to be held in Pago Pago, American Samoa, tomorrow.
Hosted by the American Samoa Alliance Against Domestic and Sexual Violence, the forum will provide in-depth discussion on the state of domestic violence in both Samoa and American Samoa – including a comparison of the two societies which share a single culture.
Guest speaker, Tuiloma Sina Retzlaff, who is a survivor, advocate and educator on domestic violence, will be presenting at the event and facilitating discussions on methods of using community engagement in schools, small groups and in villages to address the issue. She will also touch on issues of gender equity within both communities.
The Conference will be held on Thursday 15th March, from 8am to 2pm at the Lee Auditorium, and is funded by the Family Violence Prevention & Services Grants To State Domestic Violence Coalitions (US Government).
